Primary School building of Sevalaya inaugurated
The 22nd annual day celebrations and the inauguration of the new Primary School building of Sevalaya were held on August 3, at its campus at Kasuva Village.
Minister for School Education, Thangam Thennarasu inaugurated the new primary school building. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Sevalaya is helping the Government by making quality education accessible to the rural poor. He assured that in co-ordination with the Social Welfare Department and the District Collector, all efforts would be made to extend the noon meal scheme to Sevalaya School also. He also congratulated Sevalaya on its tremendous growth and wished the institution all success in terms of reaching out to more and more underprivileged children and promised the support of the Education Department in realising Sevalaya's dream of opening a free college for the poor students.
He presented awards to school toppers in Classes X and XII Board Examinations. The Heritage Book was released by the Minister on the occasion.
While releasing the ‘Vidiyal', the manuscript magazine prepared by Sevalaya students, Arakkonam MLA M. Jeganmurthy lauded Sevalaya for working for the betterment of the children from backward and Dalit sections. Education Secretary M. Kutralingam presented awards to the senior citizens.

Shanmugam, Chairman, Thiruvallur Union, P. Selvakumari, Chief Educational Officer, Thiruvallur, R.S. Rajarajan, District Panchayat Councillor, Thiruvallur, and M. Subramani, Union Secretary, Puratchi Bharatham participated in the celebrations and felicitated Sevalaya. Sevalaya has entered into a Global Exchange Programme with Cunningham Junior School in U.K. and the Head Teacher of the School Mr. Richard Dawson who is on a week's visit to Sevalaya also offered his felicitations. Earlier V. Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sevalaya welcomed the gathering. G. Illayaraja, trustee, proposed a vote of thanks.
